Alle Mitglieder spielten davor bereits in verschiedenen Bands.
Matthias Vogel - Bass/Synthesizer
Hilmar Habrom - Guitar/Produktion
Rene Szymanski - Guitar/Synthesizer
Tom Müller - Drums/Sampling
Uwe Kunzelmann - Videoanimation
About the band:
Radar was formed in 2003. At first none of them really didn’t know in what direction their music should go. They all played in bands before, but all these bands did a stereotype kind of music, call it alternative, call it desert rock, call it hardcore, or however. So they remembered what a member of the German band Can had said: “If you put the cable into your guitar and there is a sound, music starts.” Now in the year 2008 Radar have released two records while the third one is already recorded and will come out at autumn 2008. There is no singer. It is an instrumental band. Every record can be taken as musical diary. There are sounds. There are moods. It moves and it changes. Maybe it all deals with the simple thought: “What burns never returns.” But to be honest, maybe it’s just about doing music while waiting what happens when music moves you.
Jochen Böllath from Dare Devil Records said about “Rollsplitt”, their second album:
“Rollsplitt, the album – title from the German band Radar, is strange. And the music is strange too! A mix of Ambientsounds, Krautrock, Psychedelic Rock – played with guitars, Hammond, bass and drums. The music is real outstanding and the musicians are perfect and know what they do! The opener King Chic is a heavy and groovy opener. Taser shows a wider horizon as only riff rock and with Hometrainer they create the first 8 minute monster between Ambientsound and Psychedelic Rock. The following 8 minute songs Armstrong and Velvet are a mix of Psychedelic, horns and Ambientsounds. Sometimes they put some Can influences in their music, but all in all thes did their own strange music. I personally like the rolling opener and the last track Stromdal, a track with some strange Hammond sound like they use in 60´s B-Movies Horror films. This is an outstanding band…”
